Why Daniel 11 Does Not Speak About the USA and China, but About the Eastern and Western Roman Empire

If you want to understand chapter 11 of the Book of Daniel correctly, there is one simple thing you must do—something almost no one has the courage to do anymore:
read the chapter from beginning to end, without skipping empires, without changing maps, and without relocating the prophecy onto actors that do not appear in the text.

From the first verse to the last, Daniel 11 is a description of political and military conflict. It is not mysticism, not vague symbolism, not abstract theology. It is about wars, alliances, betrayals, military campaigns, and external interventions. The line is clear.

The geographical point of reference is Israel.
To the south—Egypt.
To the north—the Seleucid Syrian kingdom.

This is not interpretation. It is geography.

The Two Hellenistic Models: Alexandria and Antioch

From the very beginning, the conflict is not only military. It is also philosophical.

Ptolemaic Egypt (Alexandria) adopts a syncretic model: religion + philosophy + administration. It is flexible, adaptable, and persuasive. This is where the Septuagint appears. Not by the sword, but by translation. Not through persecution, but through integration.

The Seleucids, by contrast, represent the autonomous model: Greek philosophy applied brutally, without compromise. Antiochus Epiphanes does not negotiate. He imposes. From here come persecution, the profanation of the temple, and open conflict.

Daniel 11 describes these two “horns” fighting one another, while in the background a third element grows—the little horn, philosophy itself—which will eventually consume them both.

Rome Does Not Appear Out of Nowhere. It Is Already There.

After Antiochus, events do not “stop.”

Egypt is swallowed by Rome.
Syria is swallowed by Rome.
Israel is swallowed by Rome.
The entire North–South space is swallowed by Rome.

Here arises the first major modern mistake: the idea that Daniel 11 somehow “skips” Rome and jumps directly to the USA, China, or Russia.

No.

Rome is the framework empire of the Book of Daniel.

• Daniel 2 – the legs of iron
• Daniel 7 – the fourth beast
• Daniel 9 – “a prince who shall come and destroy the city”
• Daniel 11 – the logical continuation

The text never leaves Rome.

At the “time of the end,” Daniel does not introduce a new empire; he describes the final phase of the existing one.

From North–South to East–West

Once Rome absorbs everything, the North and South can no longer be read strictly in geographical terms. Egypt versus Syria no longer exists.

But the conflict does not disappear.
It transforms.

Rome divides:

• politically: Rome – Constantinople
• religiously: 1054
• definitively: 1453

From this point on, the conflict is no longer North–South, but East–West.

The Western Roman world develops through:

• Imperial Rome
• Papal Rome
• Secular Europe

The Eastern Roman world develops through:

• Byzantium
• Constantinople
• Moscow

This is not symbolism. It is history.

Why Russia Is Functionally Byzantium

After 1453, Byzantium does not disappear. It shifts its center of gravity.

Orthodoxy does not die. It consolidates in Moscow.

The model remains:

• state + religion
• synodality
• sacred authority

That is why Russia is not “Asian” in this prophecy.
It is the continuator of the Eastern Roman world.

The West: From Syncretism to Autonomous Philosophy

The West was also syncretic for a long time. The papacy kept religion and power at the same table.

The real change comes with:

• the Enlightenment
• the French Revolution
• the secular state

Here the definitive rupture occurs:
religion is removed from the center, and autonomous philosophy becomes the supreme authority.

Modern Europe is not accidentally anti-religious.
It is structurally anti-religious.

This is the final king of the north:
secular Western Europe, not papal Rome.

Papal Rome is eliminated earlier, exactly as described in Revelation 17.

Why the USA Is Not “the North”

The USA is not a Roman heir.
It does not appear in Daniel.
It is not part of the historical North–South conflict.

The USA appears later, in a different role—
in Revelation 13, not in Daniel 11.

Its role is not to collapse, but to impose order after collapse.

Exactly what was seen during the pandemic: control, economic conditioning, social exclusion.

Not truth.
Not freedom.
Order by necessity.

Why Revelation Does Not Describe the Fall of the East

Revelation clearly describes the fall of the West:

• Revelation 18 – economic collapse
• the merchants weep
• others stand at a distance

There is no parallel chapter describing the fall of the East.

Why?

Because the East does not fall in that conflict.
It survives as a syncretic model.

That does not mean it represents “the truth.”
It means it is not judged there.

“Rumors from the East and from the North”

Daniel 11:44 is not speaking about China and Russia as modern superpowers.

It speaks about:

• the loss of support
• the realignment of alliances
• the isolation of the West

“And no one shall help him.”

Up to that point, the West had been helped:

• by Rome
• by alliances
• by external interventions (including the USA in both World Wars)

At the end, it is not.

Conclusion

Daniel 11 is not a prophecy about the USA versus China.
It is a prophecy about the end of the Western Roman world, in its final form: total secularism.

Revelation confirms this:

• the West falls
• the East does not
• a power emerges that imposes order after chaos

Those who do not submit are excluded from society.

Exactly as we have already seen.

This is not a fulfilled prophecy.
That is why it must not be treated dogmatically.

But if you want coherence—
historical,
textual,
prophetic—

then the North and the South at the time of the end cannot be the USA and China.

They are the Eastern and Western Roman Empire, in their final form.
